Movie Fangirl Blog Award

HI :3

Movie Award

I would like to thank the Tragic Fangirl for nominating me for this award! You guys should go check out her blog too because it’s filled with awesome posts! The purpose of this award is to help fangirls and fanboys in the blogosphere meet each other and share their love for all things fandom related.

The rules are:

  1. Write a brief introduction and acceptance speech for the award.
  2. Add the award button (above) to your post
  3. Answer the questions I have written below
  4. Nominate 5 – 10 Fangirly/Movie blogs to answer your questions who you think deserve the award
  5. Come up with your own questions for your nominees.
  6.  Add a pingback to this post, so I can see all your answers and thoughts! (Optional)

Here are the questions and my answers to them:

1. Which book, series, character or fandom do you fangirl/enjoy over the most?

The first fandom that popped into my head when I read this question is the Percy Jackson Fandom. I love both series, but I prefer the second one: Heroes of Olympus because of the complex story line and the character development in both new and old characters. However, I think the ending of the first series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is more satisfying for the reader since it ties right back to the beginning of the first book which is evident in the lines. Percy’s first and last lines were: “Look, I didn’t want to be a demigod” and then “for once, I never looked back”. It’s as if he’s finally come to terms with his origin and is looking forward to his future while the ending of HoO doesn’t confirm a certain ending. Okay, I’m going to stop right there because I might give out spoilers and I rambled on too long.

I’m still considering other fandoms such as Harry Potter, Pokemon and just anime in general but the one that ripped my heart- I mean, I have enjoyed the most until now is the Percy Jackson fandom so that’s why I’m picking it.

2. Who is the best person in your life to fangirl/enthuse with?

I have a few friends who belong in different fandoms and if I’m in that fandom too, then I fangirl with them. However, the person I definitely fangirl the most with is my sister because she’s in most of the fandoms I’m in. I’m pretty sure I influenced the books she reads or the series/ movies she watches since we share nearly the same opinions and I’m almost always going “YOU. NEED. TO. SEE. THIS.”

3. Which popular book/series/character do you wish you could fangirl over but you actually don’t like?

I might get a lot of gasps for this but one of the popular series I’m not that into is the Hunger Games. I may sound really ignorant but bottom line is, I’m not a fan of the reaping.

4. What is your favourite colour? And what character embodies that colour best?

It’s pretty hard to miss my favourite colour since it’s all over my blog: in the name, the tagline, in my character’s clothing and in all the drawings/ work I do. Whenever I have to tie in my favourite colour with a certain character, I actually think of two: Reyna Avila Ramírez-Arellano from The Heroes of Olympus series and Mirajane Strauss from the Fairy Tail anime.

5. If you could trade places with one character for a day, who would it be?

I’m going to take this unbelievably hard question as also asking me: “what universe do you want to be in for a day?” If I had to really pick one, I would go for Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter. She is such an amazing character who taught me to truly be myself no matter what other people think. Also, I just want to be able to have a wizard’s/ witch’s experience in Hogwarts.

I now nominate:

My questions for my nominees:

  1. What fandom universe is your favourite?
  2. If you could save one beloved character from death, who would it be?
  3. Are there any small/ unrecognised fandoms you’re a part of that others need to know about?
  4. Which character (from any book/ series) do you relate to the most?
  5. If you could exchange your current life and all of the Earth to live in the fandom of your choice, would you do it?

Again, a big thank you to the Tragic Fangirl for nominating me for this award! It was so much fun to do and I hope to meet other fangirls/ boys through this.

My favourite quotes

HI :3

2016-07-15 17.17.08

This is just a little post where I’m going to choose my favourite quotes from different categories. Some are inspiring, some are funny, some are weird, some are relatable and some describe me right now. Let’s get on it:

Book: The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

(Wikipedia.com, 2009)

“I think maybe everybody falls… And I don’t think that’s the asking… I think the asking is whether we get back up again” – Todd Hewitt.

This is such an amazing quote that I always remember and think about when I’m feeling down. The book itself left me wide- eyed by the time I finished it and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the second one. It’s the first book of the Chaos Walking Trilogy and if you haven’t read it then you most definitely should. When I finished reading the whole trilogy I was just breathless and sat on the chair and had one of those… moments. I’m not really sure how to describe it but long story short, you need to read this book. If you already have, do it again.

Song: Hold on to You by Nathan Sharp – NateWantsToBattle

“Now I’ve grown so sick of running || To find I’m only at the start” – Nathan Sharp

This is an original song by YouTuber Nate- Senpai and is inspired by Kingdom Hearts. It’s one of my favourite original YouTube songs since I relate to it in a certain manner. The quote itself is something that I love to listen to him sing because of how much power there is in it. I’ve related to it before because I’ve also felt like even though I tried so hard to move forward, I find that I’m still stuck where I started. That just means I need to find a new way to keep moving.

Game: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

“You need to stop judging things based on narrow- minded cultural assumptions” – Maya Fey

This quote could not be any truer. I think being more open- minded about other people’s opinions or way of living can help make this world at least a tiny bit better. This game is so addictive and I played every single one in the series and fell in love with each one. I was in love with the “mystery” genre when I played this series so I was pretty hooked.

Also, the context behind it was funny: “(step) ladder”.

Anime: Hyouka

“I’m not against socializing, so long as it’s not tiring” – Hōtarō Oreki

Not only does this quote make me laugh, it’s also so relatable. This quote is me whenever I don’t want to socialize with huge groups of people so I just end up staying in a corner by myself or with a few people.

Individual

“Don’t chain your heart to any heavy, bulky thoughts” – well meaning person

It’s a simple quote yet it’s extremely powerful so it’s been stuck in my head. This has helped me through times when I couldn’t figure out how to sort out certain things.

Friday Fives- things that calm me down

HI :3

2016-06-03 21.02.49

I have to admit, today hasn’t been one of my best days. If any of you have read my latest post then you’ll probably have a slight idea as to why I’m feeling down in the dumps (does anyone even say that anymore??). Anyway, I initially thought I would make the topic of this Friday Fives as things that annoy me or my pet peeves but I figured, why should I focus on stuff that irritates me even more?

So, here it is: the top 5 things that calm me down:

1) Listening to anime OSTs

As much as I love watching anime, I also enjoy listening to certain openings, endings or other anime related music. But if I’m trying to calm myself down, it has to be an acoustic or lullaby version so I feel ultra relaxed. This is one of the first things I do when I’m feeling annoyed: just plug my earphones in and forget about the world around me.

2) Writing in my journal/ blog

I’m guessing that a lot of people here will agree with me when I say that writing is very therapeutic. Doing it helped me deal with my thoughts and emotions because writing it down made me feel as if I was telling someone else about what’s bothering me without any worries of judgment, criticism or the like. Writing in my journal definitely makes me feel this way and sometimes I take on two personalities when I write. The “emotional” one which is when I just pour out all my raw thoughts and feelings into the page and usually leads to really messy handwriting to the point that even I can’t read it anymore; and the more “level – headed” one which is my more rational side that tries to make sense of all my negative thoughts and what I should do to resolve my problems.

3) Watching funny let’s plays/ videos

I watch certain YouTubers that make me smile and laugh to pick me up after having a rough day. These sorts of days can be really draining so just watching them helps me to chill and remember that the world isn’t all that bad.

4) Looking at pictures

Just recently, I had a certain bunch of pictures developed so that I could physically hold and look at them whenever I wanted to. All the pictures have a certain meaning or were taken at a significant event which reminds me of the greater times of my life. Having these reminders helps me to think that the bad stupid days aren’t gonna last.

5) Playing video games

I’m really picky when it comes to choosing stuff to calm down so I rather play single- player games to relax so that I don’t have to deal with other people first. I also usually play strategy/ RPG games because there are certain objectives that you have to reach or there are smart ways to play the game. Thinking in this way and having fun really gets my mind of whatever’s bothering me which relaxes me a lot.

So that’s it for this week’s Friday Fives. I’d like to just thank the people who took the time to read this and my other post. You guys are awesome for listening 🙂

Now I’m off to play some more games,

Friday Fives – Hobbies

HI :3

2016-06-03 21.02.49

I just had this random idea that I could do a small post every Friday where I write down a list of 5. This list could have anything: quotes, favourites, what I don’t like, etc. I’m not sure where this series of posts could lead to but I figured I’d give it a try.

For my first Friday Fives, here’s my list of my Top 5 hobbies:

2016-06-03 20.56.45

1) Watching YouTube videos

After giving it some thought, I realized that I watch YouTube more than anything else right now. I have a few favourite YouTubers whose videos I always watch because they always make me smile when I’m down, teach me how to make awesome food and help me learn more about random topics.

2) Being with my best friends

There are only a few people I’ve made this unspoken promise with and being with them really calms me down. It doesn’t really matter what we’re doing, we could be watching a movie, talking or just sitting together and I’d feel a lot calmer already.

3) Writing/ blogging

It’s been nearly a month since I started blogging and so far… wow. Writing helps me relieve my thoughts and feelings in a good way and being able to connect with other people through my blog has helped me in so many ways. I’ve also recently had a huge amount of inspiration to write different posts and it’s actually my third day of posting consecutively (woo!) so I’m definitely enjoying it.

4) Baking

As much as I love eating food, I also love making them and baking is just really fun for me (and my family… and my friends… ’cause they get to eat the treats I made). I also find it great because I can share my creations with others see their happy faces when they eat them.

5) Watching anime

Ever since school ended, I’ve been catching up with all the anime that I’ve been wanting to watch or have been recommended to me. Currently, I’m in the middle of watching 3 series, 2 of which are ongoing and the other is completed with about 24 episodes. This activity is kinda weird because even though it’s my hobby, it’s something that comes in periods. So sometimes, I’ll watch the whole series in a day and keep doing this for a few days; but other times, I just don’t feel like watching anything.

Aaand that’s my Top 5 hobbies! It was a bit hard to narrow it down to five things but these 5 are definitely what I either do the most/ enjoy the most. I’ll be back next Friday with a new Top 5 list!
